Last event of the anniversary year: Of Hockey And Hijab on Monday
Dear all
The 40th anniversary year is soon wrapped up, but luckily there's one more chance to attend an Octopus Event in 2009:
The launch of Of Hockey and Hijab by Sheema Khan
is on Monday December 7 at 6 pm at the Auditorium, Main Library (120 Metcalfe).
As usual, free admission.
In addition to Sheema Khan we will have Kerry Pither, the author of Dark Days; Farhat Rehman, women's rights activist; and Keith Neuman, VP Environics Research Group, discussing a variety of topics from Khan's book, such as integration, cultural understanding, women's rights and finding the balance between civil liberties and security.
Evening will be moderated by Yavar Hameed, human rights lawyer.
Hope to see you there,
Octo-team
