Hello friends, We need your help to fill some shoes here at Octopus. As you must know by now (because we have been shouting it from the rooftops), it is our 40th anniversary and we have been organizing a year full of events to celebrate. Here we are just over halfway through the year and we need someone to jump in and take the reins of organizing events for the rest of the year. So, in jobby job speak we are looking for someone to do event planning and promotion. We are not posting this widely (or anywhere) because we need it to be someone who knows the store and can jump in and understand what we need and what Octopus events are about. The job would be part-time (15-20hrs/week) starting soon….somewhere between July 15th and 22nd  and continue until January 2010. The perfect candidate would have experience organizing events, writing press releases and generating media. The ideal person is also up on current events and knows a thing or two about what’s going on in the world of books of course. The job entails coming up with ideas of authors or themes for events, booking authors/speakers, finding venues (on a very tight budget) and pulling it off without a hitch. We also want someone who can find ways to promote the anniversary itself and Octopus in the media.
